Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi is located 128 kilometers (80 miles) west of Bangkok.
It is Thailand's third largest province with an area of 19,486
square kilometers. The provincial area is mountaineous and
has the west border next to Myanmar.
How to get there :
- By car. Travelling by car
will take about 2 hrs 15 min.
Starting from Bangkok to
Nakhon Pathom where there
is the tallest Phra Pathom
Chedi, then follow highway
No.323 to Kanchanaburi City.
Most visitors stop at the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery,
then to The Bridge over the
River Kwai which is located
north of the city by about
4 kms.
- By train. Special trains
are arranged for tourists from
Bangkok on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. Exciting
trip by train is on the Kan-
chanaburi to Nam Tok Station,
a part of the historic railway to Burma, for a distance of about
50 kilometers.
